Bradfield City’s vision for a vibrant, sustainable urban heart has taken a major step forward, with the appointment of FDC Construction & Fitout as Head Contractor for the city’s flagship Central Park.
The two‑hectare public space will serve as the central meeting point for Australia’s first new city in more than a century.
Positioned directly above the new Bradfield Metro Station, Central Park is designed to be the key arrival point into the city, welcoming visitors while offering green relief and gathering spaces for residents, workers and local businesses.
The project will anchor the city’s core and set the design benchmark for future precincts in Bradfield’s development.
Under FDC’s leadership, the park will feature an array of world‑class public infrastructure, including the distinctive Sky Ring, Woven Play and Interwoven Heart play areas, and the multi‑use Gathering Green capable of hosting up to 5,000 people.
The works will also deliver amenities such as decks, pathways, lighting, and tree‑lined boulevards.
More than 550 mature trees and over 55,000 native shrubs, grasses and groundcovers will be planted across the park, representing more than 84 shrub species.

Public art co‑designed by Dharug artists will be woven throughout the landscape, celebrating Country and the cultural heritage of Western Sydney.
Designed by ASPECT Studios, Central Park will incorporate advanced technology to adapt to climate change and support long‑term maintenance, ensuring the park remains a resilient and welcoming green space as the new city grows.
Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2026, aligning with the scheduled opening of the Bradfield Metro Station.
Bradfield Development Authority CEO Ken Morrison said: “Central Park will become the heart of Bradfield City, a place for families, workers and visitors to meet, play and enjoy the outdoors.
“Appointing FDC as Head Contractor brings us another step closer to creating a world‑class public space that reflects the identity, aspirations and energy of this new city.
“We are proud to be working with outstanding partners to deliver a park that will serve the community for generations to come.”
FDC Managing Director Russell Grady said the project reflects both the scale and ambition of Bradfield’s purpose‑built urban vision.
“Bradfield City is one of Australia’s most exciting city building endeavours, and Central Park will set the tone with a considered, vibrant heart,” said Grady.
“FDC is proud to partner with Bradfield Development Authority to deliver an innovative, nature-rich public space that honours Country and creates real local jobs, skills and apprenticeship pathways across Western Sydney.”
