The Manning Base Hospital has been fast-tracked thanks to the NSW Government’s pre-budget announcement of additional funding for the hospital. Design work will be completed in late 2018, with actual development work commencing in the first half of 2019.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Health Minister Brad Hazzard have just announced that an extra $20 million is set in the 2018-2019 budget for the Manning Base Hospital redevelopment. The additional funding to the new purpose-built facility will include the fit out of the expanded Medical Imaging Department, new CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy equipment, as well as improvements to patient waiting areas. Improved staff and patient amenities and additional car parking, will also be part of the redevelopment. Premier NSW Premier Gladys Berijiklian made the announcement at the hospital on Friday, stating the development is ‘close to the hearts of the community’.
“I’ve heard in the last few days that I’ve been here, the community wants to know that this hospital has all the facilities it needs and they need, especially when it comes to diagnostic and other services,” Ms Berijiklian said on the matter.
The minister also voiced that the Government has doubled their investment for the Manning Base Hospital redevelopment to $40 million so that they can deliver for the communities of Taree and the surrounding Manning Valley region.
“This wonderful upgrade will mean our hardworking doctors and nurses can continue to provide outstanding care to the Taree and Manning Valley communities,” said Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead.
Australian Architectural firm, Coffey Projects, has been appointed to undertake project management in conjunction with Health Infrastructure NSW.
“Coffey has a long history in the healthcare sector and we are extremely pleased to be providing our expertise to these Muswellbrook and Taree communities,” said Coffey Project Director, Josh Fullerton, in a statement.
