WA honours top building suppliers and contractors at 2024 awards ceremony

Outstanding building suppliers and contractors were recognised at the 2024 Department of Finance Supplier Performance Awards, celebrating excellence in non-residential Western Australian government projects.

The seventh annual event, held for the first time at the recently refurbished His Majesty’s Theatre, showcased the best in the industry over the past two years.

Kimberley Green Constructions clinched the Best Contractor Award for their exceptional work on HVAC upgrades at multiple facilities, including the North Regional TAFE Kununurra Health and Hospitality Training Centre.

Colab Construction secured the Best Regional Contractor Award, following their success as Best Aboriginal Contractor in 2023.

GBSC Yurra was named Best Aboriginal Contractor and was praised for their stakeholder collaboration and commitment to Aboriginal training and employment.

Iredale Pedersen Hook architects received the Best Consultant award for their innovative modular solutions and focus on local and Aboriginal business involvement.

The $17.7 million Perth Zoo Café and Function Centre project, featuring multiple dining outlets, earned the Best Project Award.

The team, including Crothers Construction, CHRISTOU Design Group, and Rider Levett Bucknall, was commended for their collaborative efforts and professionalism.

Finance Minister Sue Ellery congratulated the winners, stating: “All the 2024 Supplier Performance Award winners have demonstrated their commitment to industry-leading standards and innovation, having delivered outstanding outcomes on government projects.”

Minister Ellery also highlighted the government’s commitment to the building and construction industry, announcing a future work pipeline exceeding $42.4 billion to support local and Aboriginal businesses across Western Australia.

The awards ceremony not only celebrated industry excellence but also showcased the newly restored His Majesty’s Theatre, a finalist in the WA Heritage Awards, underlining the state’s commitment to preserving its architectural heritage.
