Tree Walk Park, a landmark inclusive play space located within the Berwick Waters community in Melbourne, has been honoured with the Social Infrastructure / Community Infrastructure Award at the 2025 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Victoria Awards for Excellence.
Developed by Frasers Property Australia in collaboration with Mondous Property, the park epitomises inclusive, nature-integrated design, delivering a unique community asset.
Completed in April 2025, Tree Walk Park is part of Livvi’s Place national network, which features more than 45 inclusive playspaces across Australia.
The network includes other Frasers Property projects such as Silo Park at the Five Farms community nearby.
The playground was developed in partnership with the Touched by Olivia Foundation, a non-profit whose mission centres on enhancing community wellbeing through promoting inclusion and belonging.
The park is notable for its accessible elevated boardwalk meandering through mature Redgum and Spotted Gum trees, which were preserved to seamlessly blend nature with play.
Key features include two large play towers connected by slides, climbing nets, swings, spinners, and sensory play elements such as musical chimes and bells.
The design notably incorporates a 1:14 gradient DDA-compliant ramp allowing wheelchair users access to most elevated areas, alongside accessible toilets and picnic shelters, ensuring inclusion for all community members.
It also preserved the existing mature tree canopy, ensuring long-term tree health through arborist consultations and protective construction methods.
Beyond the playground, Tree Walk Park includes a fenced dog park, active sports court, BBQ areas, seating, and drinking fountains, providing versatile spaces for community gathering and recreation.
Tree Walk Park complements Berwick Waters’ extensive community amenities, which include 50 hectares of open space with nine kilometres of walking and bike trails.
It stands alongside Grand Prix Park in the College Green sector, which offers additional family-friendly features such as a kids’ racing track, mini trampolines, a zipline, and a play tower.
Ultimately, Berwick Waters aims to house around 2,500 households in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburb of Clyde North.
Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria at Frasers Property Australia, highlighted the award as a recognition of collaborative effort.
“Helping our residents establish community connections and with nature is vital to what we do,” said Bloom.
“Tree Walk Park is a special, inclusive and beautiful space for everyone to meet, play and feel a true sense of belonging.”
