Regulatory body says apartment rectification order poses no threat to residents

30 Jan, 2024
Macquarie Park Order no threat to residents

A Building Work Rectification Order issued by the Building Commission NSW to Greenland Australia’s nbh at Lachlan’s Line Macquarie Park apartment block poses no danger to the residents of that building, says the regulatory body.

The Order, issued on the 15 January 2024 to the 23 Halifax Street developer, relates to the long-term durability of the basement levels of the building, not to any units within the complex.

The issue is not structural.

NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler said: “The Building Commission NSW is working hard to rebuild trust and capability in the construction sector.

“I’m very confident that the industry is getting it. Either build it right or there will be consequences.”

The Building Commission and Greenland Lachlan’s Line Macquarie Park Development Pty Ltd have been in regular contact about the defect since August 2023, when the first inspection was conducted.

The Building Commission will continue to work with the developer to ensure compliance with the Order.

Greenland has been following all directions made by the Commission and its specialist consultants and remains fully committed to working closely with the Commission to satisfactorily resolve the situation.

Greenland has confirmed that no other buildings that it has developed are impacted by this issue.

Greenland, via the project’s building manager and strata managers, has contacted all residential owners and tenants at the project.

The company has confirmed that no evacuations at the project are required.
