WoodSolutions and Timber Insight advance sustainability

WoodSolutions and Timber Insight advance sustainability

WoodSolutions and Timber Insight have announced a strategic partnership to drive knowledge, innovation, and sustainable housing solutions across Western Australia.

Over the next 18 months, the two organisations will jointly deliver a comprehensive program designed to expand timber knowledge, strengthen industry capability, and support the state’s fast-growing housing sector.

The initiative will connect industry professionals through a diverse calendar of seminars, design tours, and informal meet-ups, creating opportunities for shared learning and collaboration.

These events aim to highlight timber’s potential across the full value chain — from sustainably managed forests to advanced engineered products and beautifully finished homes.

WoodSolutions is committing substantial resources to reinforce Western Australia’s timber industry by developing skills, fostering innovation, and accelerating the adoption of timber solutions in construction.

The partnership’s holistic approach underscores the alignment between sustainable materials, housing demand, and regional economic development.

By focusing on education and professional engagement, the initiative seeks to ensure that Western Australia’s building and design community is equipped with the tools, knowledge, and network necessary to embrace timber as a key solution to future housing challenges.

“Timber is a vital resource for the future of Western Australia’s housing,” said Kevin Peachey, Head of Built Environment Programs at FWPA.

“Through this partnership with Timber Insight, we are equipping the industry with practical knowledge, inspiration, and collaboration opportunities, ensuring timber continues to play a leading role in the homes and communities of tomorrow.”

The program will place a strong emphasis on how sustainable timber products can meet rising housing needs while reducing the environmental footprint of new developments.

Participants will explore topics such as the use of engineered wood, hybrid structural systems, and advanced prefabrication techniques that enable faster construction and lower carbon emissions.

Workshops and guided design tours will provide practical insights into how modern timber technologies are transforming residential construction.

From low-rise dwellings to community-scale developments, timber is being positioned as a cornerstone of Western Australia’s future housing mix.

A key focus of the collaboration is shining a spotlight on local forestry and manufacturing excellence.

Western Australia’s timber producers and designers are already pushing boundaries in engineered wood and sustainable building systems, and this new program will ensure their achievements gain broader visibility.

By showcasing homegrown expertise, WoodSolutions and Timber Insight aim to raise the profile of timber as both an environmentally responsible and economically valuable resource.

The partnership also supports regional job creation, skills development, and increased investment in sustainable forestry practices.

Through this initiative, WoodSolutions and Timber Insight are reinforcing their shared commitment to driving innovation in Western Australia’s construction sector.

Their collaboration signals a confident step forward in building a low-carbon, timber-savvy future for the state’s housing industry.
