Emesent’s GX1 delivers 5–10mm precision for surveyors



Today, Emesent launched the Emesent GX1, the world’s most accurate integrated Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) and Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) scanner.

The GX1 marks a significant industry breakthrough, achieving an unprecedented 5–10mm global accuracy and setting a new benchmark for precision in topographic surveying and infrastructure construction.

This integrated, all-in-one system brings together LiDAR, RTK, cameras, and software to deliver validated outputs directly from field capture.

Designed to eliminate the long-standing trade-off between mobile scanning speed and dependable, survey-grade accuracy, the GX1 can reduce site survey times by up to 95 per cent, turning what might have once taken weeks into a single day of scanning.

According to Emesent, the GX1 extends its proven SLAM technology (already trusted in the world’s most challenging, GPS-denied environments) to mainstream surveying applications.

The result is a tool that allows surveyors to move seamlessly from field data collection to verified results without sacrificing accuracy, efficiency, or ease of use.

Suited for topographic and road surveys, scan-to-building information models (BIM), and construction progress tracking, the GX1 is accessible for new users yet advanced enough for experts.

Emesent notes that even junior surveyors can be trained to deploy it within days, thanks to its intuitive operation and field-ready design.

GX1 is the only SLAM-based mobile scanner system delivering 5–10mm global accuracy with rapid scanning capabilities.

By combining Emesent’s proprietary SLAM algorithm with integrated RTK georeferencing and a client-first design, the GX1 offers repeatable results survey firms can trust.

Backed by Emesent’s award-winning SLAM algorithm, originally developed for the Hovermap platform, the GX1 has been validated in extreme underground and GPS-denied environments where competing systems struggle.

This same software engine now brings high-performance mapping to both indoor and outdoor surveying contexts with impressive repeatable results.

The system’s flexible georeferencing options further increase workflow efficiency.

Surveyors can capture data with RTK in real-time or use ground control points and checkpoints for precise post-processing.

To match different field scenarios, the GX1 offers four deployment modes: backpack, survey pole, vehicle mount, and supported handheld.

The launch comes at a pivotal moment for surveying and the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, as firms face a global shortage of experienced surveyors.

Key technical features include independently validated 5-10mm global accuracy, integrated RTK georeferencing with real-time quality monitoring, four 20MP cameras for 360° panoramic imagery, and rapid accuracy validation via Emesent’s Aura processing software.
