Rosewood Care Group has announced WA construction group Pindan Pty Ltd as the successful tenderer for its new $70 million aged care home in West Perth.
As part of a comprehensive redevelopment of Rosewood’s 5454 square metre Cleaver Street property, the site will be transformed into a four-storey, purpose-built 152-bed residential care facility.
Plans indicate that the heritage-listed cottage, Florence Hummerston Lodge, will form the centrepiece of the development and undergo $500,000 of restoration works.
The blueprint also provides for an on-site café, basement car parking, wellness centre, day centre and training rooms for medical, nursing and allied health trainees. In addition, there will be terraced gardens and $500,000 worth of public art for residents and visitors to relish.
Rosewood Chief Executive Officer Mario Zulberti said the development would help address critical shortages in the number of aged care beds in Western Australia.
“This development represents an exciting period in the future of aged care at Rosewood and will put us at the forefront of the sector to offer more aged care beds and superior services, including dementia-specific accommodation for our ageing community,” Mr Zulberti explained.
Construction is scheduled for completion by February 2021.
