The Edith Cowan University (ECU) Mount Lawley Redevelopment Project has reached a significant milestone, with DevelopmentWA releasing its draft Master Plan for public feedback.
The plan sets out a long-term vision to transform the 18.6-hectare campus into a connected, inclusive, and sustainable precinct, retaining key buildings such as the WAAPA facilities, student accommodation, and library.
Shaped by extensive community engagement — including surveys, focus groups, and a dedicated community reference group — the draft Master Plan outlines a thoughtful approach to housing, open spaces, movement, and future infrastructure, while honouring the site’s cultural and educational heritage.
The plan also seeks to respect local character, support community connection, and promote high-quality design throughout the precinct.
Planning and Lands Minister John Carey said: “With Edith Cowan University, including the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, set to relocate from the Mount Lawley campus into a new city campus in early 2026, we have a unique opportunity to transform this 18.6-hectare site into a vibrant, connected precinct.
“Community feedback has been instrumental in shaping the draft Master Plan so far, and I encourage the community to continue engaging in consultation to help shape the precinct’s future.”
Mount Lawley MLA Frank Paolino added: “This redevelopment presents a unique chance to deliver significant benefits to our community.
“I encourage the local community to take part in this transformative and landmark project by giving their feedback through the consultation process.”
The draft Master Plan is now available for review and community feedback via the ‘Your Say’ page of the project until 3 August.
