GURNER™ has appointed ICON Construction to build the first 68-level tower at its significant Gold Coast project La Pelago, with a build price estimated to be over $350 million.

Once complete, the tower will bring together premium retail and hospitality offerings, an ultra-luxury international 200 room hotel, a health and wellness precinct, a private resort and club, and a sky bar at level 42, in addition to its 350+ apartments and its 200-room hotel.

There are also 90 residences across the penthouse collection, ranging from levels 43 to 68; the tallest of La Pelago’s four towers will reach 68 storeys, meaning it will become the fourth-largest tower on the Gold Coast.

There has been widespread interest in La Pelago since GURNER™ acquired the site earlier in 2021, with its formal launch expected in Q1 2022, followed by construction commencement in mid-2022. The build is estimated to take 40 months to complete.

Architecturally designed by Warren and Mahoney, ‘La Pelago’ centralises on a “private island” theme whereby each building is surrounded by over 9,000sqm of amenity, lush tropical landscaping and pool-side water retreats.

Plans for La Pelago are currently before council, with planning approval expected imminently and GURNER™ working closely with council to finalise the plans ahead of its launch.

GURNER™ founder and director, Tim Gurner said: “We are very excited to have appointed ICON to lead the construction on such a major project for us and the Gold Coast, where we will be really pushing the boundaries of what is possible in luxury property.

“We have now delivered eight projects with ICON, so we have tremendous confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a project of this scale and complexity.

“This project is very important to our business, and we are looking forward to working closely with ICON to deliver a new level of amenity and luxury for Australia,” he said.

Icon Construction director (QLD, WA and NT) Luke Young said: “We are extremely excited to be working with GURNER™ and our project partners on this major development for the Gold Coast.

“We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with GURNER™, our teams work well together to make bold visions a reality,” he said.
