PlanRadar, a digital platform for construction, real estate, and facilities management, is set to launch its innovative AI-powered SiteView feature.
This new feature enhances the platform’s documentation, communication, and reporting capabilities by allowing users to capture 360° imagery of their projects while navigating the site.
These images are seamlessly integrated into a 2D plan, providing a meticulous visual archive of project progression at every phase of development.
PlanRadar Group Co-CEO Ibrahim Imam stated: “This feature is a game changer for PlanRadar users, combining an easy-to-use experience with the highest levels of accuracy.
“It makes it possible to achieve complete visual as-builts and field progress documentation, replacing the need for taking thousands of photos.
“In addition to our core documentation, communication, and ticketing platform, SiteView allows anyone working on a project to easily go back and review the exact construction or installation process, often reducing rework,” said Imam.
Despite its cutting-edge technology, SiteView offers a simple solution for construction teams.
Users can walk a site with a 360° camera attached to a helmet, and SiteView automatically transfers reality capture images from the camera to the app.
These images are then ready to review in PlanRadar shortly after a site walk is completed, aligning the path walked onto the 2D plan.
This streamlined process significantly boosts efficiency, enabling quick documentation of visual ‘as-builts’ within minutes and facilitating the maintenance of necessary site documentation.
SiteView also features a compare function that allows users to view images captured on two dates side-by-side during the build — facilitating progress tracking and issue identification.
PlanRadar Australia & New Zealand Senior Consultant Leon Ward noted: “SiteView reduces on-site inspection time and speeds up team collaboration, allowing a complete view of the site, even when working remotely.
“360° photographic images provide all the documentation needed to see what has happened, delivering complete project transparency.
“With minimal training required, users simply set a starting position on a 2D construction plan within the PlanRadar mobile app, walk the site, and press stop when finished; our sophisticated algorithms take care of the rest,” said Ward.
SiteView utilises SLAM technology (Simultaneous Location and Mapping), similar to that used in driverless automobiles, to survey unfamiliar environments while in motion.
This technology estimates the path of the site walker on a digital construction plan, with algorithms constantly aligning sequential data to determine position and path.
The path is then aligned to the plan using AI-powered computer vision algorithms, which integrate depth estimation and accurate localisation.
The integration of SiteView into PlanRadar’s platform provides project teams with a comprehensive 360° overview of activity and progress — enhancing project management by consolidating all processes within a single platform.
With a comprehensive view of works available throughout each phase of the build, all project stakeholders can experience full transparency of activities, preventing miscommunication and mitigating potential disputes.
Following the initial launch, SiteView will undergo continuous updates, with planned features such as BIM integration and the capability to link to tickets directly on the 360° images.
