George Bardas takes the helm at Hansen Yuncken

Hansen Yuncken, a leading Australian construction firm, has announced the appointment of George Bardas as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Bardas will succeed Peter Salveson, who is retiring after eight years in the role and nearly three decades with the company.

Bardas brings extensive experience to the position, having held senior national executive roles in commercial construction for approximately two decades.

The Board of Hansen Yuncken expressed confidence in Bardas’ ability to lead the company forward.

David Beslich, Co-Chair and Executive Director of Hansen Yuncken, highlighted Bardas’ leadership skills and proven track record in growing client-focused businesses.

“George will build on our commercial strategy and ensure we continue to deliver our vision to provide the services of a preferred building partner and employer recognised for our integrity and innovation,” Beslich stated.

Richard Hansen, Co-Chair and Executive Director, emphasised Bardas’ strong networks and relationship-focused approach.

He noted that these qualities align with Hansen Yuncken’s century-long commitment to excellence in Australia’s commercial building landscape.

Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Bardas said: “I’m delighted to be joining Hansen Yuncken – an iconic Australian firm with a reputation for integrity and a legacy in the market for constructing exceptional commercial and institutional buildings.”

He added that he looks forward to engaging with clients, visiting projects, and working with the company’s team of approximately 600 members across six Australian states and territories.

The Board also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing CEO Peter Salveson, recognising his leadership and dedication to the business, particularly during his tenure as CEO since 2016.

Bardas is set to assume his new position at Hansen Yuncken on March 3, 2025.

This transition marks a new chapter for the company, which has been at the forefront of Australia’s construction industry for over a century.
