Crystal Lagoons, the multi-national technology company which this year established a Sydney base, has broken ground on its first lagoon in Texas. A quarry is a rather unlikely destination for a luxury hotel. Perhaps that’s what makes the concept of Songjiang Quarry Hotel so awe-inspiring. A S$58.3 billion township the size of Ang Mo Kio is set to rise near the Tuas Second Link in the Johor Strait. The first phase of Forest City, a 14 sq km mixed-used development comprising four man-made islands, will launch in Singapore, China and Malaysia in the first quarter of 2016, but the sales gallery is already open for bookings. American architecture office Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) has been chosen ahead of four other practices, including Zaha Hadid to complete Scandinavia’s tallest building. Initiated by the SERNEKE group, the 230 metre tower is part of a larger development covering 32,000 square metres. This masterplan comprises residential accommodation, office space and a variety of retail outlets, intended to create an integrated and sustainable neighborhood.
